Facades present a significant opportunity to minimize environmental impact while enhancing performance and aesthetics and we will explore forward-thinking design strategies that can drive low-carbon solutions as Anna and Andrea share their expertise, insights, and real-world examples
Speaker Bios
Andrea Zani is the R&D Innovation Manager and Sustainability Lead at Permasteelisa North America, where he is responsible for managing and leading the development and delivery of innovative, low-carbon and high-performance façades. He is actively involved in shaping and driving Permasteelisa Group’s decarbonization strategies to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
Andrea holds a Masters degree and PhD in Building Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He is a member and co-chair of the Society of Façade Engineering North America Hub, is active in Façade Tectonics Institute (FTI) advocacy and is a member of its Embodied Carbon Working Group. He also collaborates with LBNL Window Group, CBE Berkeley and other research centers on several research activities.
As Head of Sustainability at Permasteelisa Group, Anna Foden is shaping a cohesive approach to environmental sustainability across their brands, Permasteelisa, Gartner, and Scheldebouw, and their worldwide business units. As a company with established leadership in architectural envelope solutions with strong bespoke technical capabilities, her mission is to help add additional value, in partnership with their R&D and Innovation team, around key drivers such as whole life carbon, circular economy, life cycle solutions, and environmental impact. Working across the entire value chain, both internally and externally, and with knowledgeable sustainability leaders in each brand across the globe, Anna is working to establish sustainability as a solution-enabler to enhance what is already a market-leading brand.
Anna has 20 years’ experience in sustainability around the built environment and is a LEED Accredited Professional, BREEAM Assessor and Accredited Professional, is experienced with working on WELL certified buildings, in addition to client bespoke material and net zero carbon requirements on projects in the USA, UK, Europe, and the Middle East. She has an undergraduate degree in architecture and a master’s degree in real estate development from the University of Maryland.
